Today has been a day of natural beauty, although the skies were grey most of the day the sights were amazing. Richard if you ever read this, a great big THANK YOU.
As we stayed in a hotel on Lighthouse Avenue we started our day looking for a light house.
The lighthouse was not what I expected. It was like everything else where we have been so far on this trip, quaint and beautiful, so unlike other parts of America we’ve visited. It reminded me of the children at camp singing about the lighthouse, and remembering that we all see things differently. Even though the sign said closed the light continued to flash for all to see.
The coastal drive from Monterey to Carmel was totally inspiring. Starting on the coast with waves crashing on the rocks. How do the birds just sit as the waves crash around them. How often do we sit as chaos crashes around us? Why do the birds sit, but we jump in and become part of the chaos? How can we be more like those birds remaining calm and in control?
So much natural beauty that when we are busy we forget to notice. Around the peninsula there was an abundance of wildlife. We found my special place with amazing views out to sea.
Having seen all this I joked, stating that my day would be complete if I saw a seal. Why I said this I don’t know but as we turned the next corner we came to ‘seal rock’ and there they were, seals. How does it work that when things are good they just get better?
The beauty carried on with every turn we took more and more amazing vistas and views.
Time for lunch and on Richards advice we went to the Hog’s Breath, Clint Eastwards watering hole! The food was amazing and the atmosphere so friendly. This must be what it feels like in the movies!!
We then drove into the Santa Cruz mountains. Breathe taking. Tall tall redwoods, and now the sun was shining.
There was even a castle next door to the small hotel which was set in the woods.
What an amazing day. Having time to appreciate what we have for no cost the earth in all its glory, is what we should focus on rather than the crashing waves of chaos.
